Disney XD has recently ordered a second season for the upcoming Big Hero 6 The Series, which is impressive considering that the series is only going to debut this fall. The series is an animated adaptation of the CG animated film Big Hero 6 (which in turn was based on a Marvel comic book franchise), and is executive produced by Emmy winners Mark McCorkle, Bob Schooley, and Nick Filippi (the Kim Possible team).
“Mark, Bob and Nick have delivered a dynamic adventure series that follows the Big Hero 6 superhero team, led by audience favorites Hiro and Baymax,” said SVP of Programming and General Manager for Disney XD, Marc Buhaj. “We are honored to have the opportunity to further expand the elaborate world and engaging characters of Big Hero 6 The Series with this early second season order.”
Big Hero 6 The Series will pick up after the events of the movie, and will follow 14 year old protagonist Hiro and his compassionate, cutting-edge robot Baymax. Together with the help of their friends Wasabi, Honey Lemon, Go Go, and Fred, they form the legendary superhero team Big Hero 6 and go on high-tech adventures while protecting the city of San Fransokyo from a wide range of scientifically augmented villains.
