The Amazon.com-owned streaming video service LoveFilm has recently signed a deal with Disney in the UK and Ireland, in order to stream animated shows that feature Marvel characters. Under the deal, the subscribers of LoveFilm that are based in the UK and Ireland will be able to enjoy hundreds of shows that feature the likes of Iron Man, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and the Incredible Hulk from Marvel’s library in the past 50 years.
“It builds on the already extensive and unique collection of animated content available to stream, including titles from other market leaders, such as Aardman, eOne and DHX Media,” the company’s managing director Jim Buckle told The Hollywood Reporter.“It is an exciting development, as many of our members will have grown up watching Marvel classics and can now catch up whenever they choose.”
LoveFilm has also made arrangements with NBCUniversal TV, Channel 4, BBC, Mirama and Fox. Currently, the company’s chief rival Netflix offers a $9.40 (£5.99) per-month service. LoveFilm’s monthly rate is $7.85 (£4.99).
