Ty Burrell Joins The Muppets Sequel’s Cast
Ty Burrell (Modern Family) has recently been announced as the newest addition to the cast of Disney’s upcoming sequel to 2011’s The Muppets movie. Burrell will be given the role that was originally offered to Oscard Award-winning Austrian actor Christoph Waltz (Inglorious Basterds) but was turned down due to scheduling conflicts between the studio and the actor.
The Muppets sequel is scheduled for release in November 2013, and will be directed and co-written by James Bobin, who also helmed the first film. Sharing writing duties is Nicholas Stoller. David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman are also co-producing the sequel. The story finds the Muppets going on an adventure in Europe, where Burrell wil play an Interpol agent. This marks Burrell’s second high-profile family feature of 2013, as he is also voicing Mr. Peabody, the time-traveling pooch of DreamWorks’ upcoming Mr. Peabody & Sherman.
The project is scheduled to shoot in London this winter.
