Lionsgate Planning Live Action Adaptation of Naruto

It may come off as bad news for people who are still chafing from the terrible Dragon Ball live action attempt from Hollywood, but Variety has just broken the news that Lionsgate is in talks with effects artist turned director Michael Gracey regarding a live action adaptation of Naruto. The studio has reportedly acquired the rights for the landmark shonen franchise under closed-door negotiations.

It’s a good chance that you’ve already decided not to trust the adaptation just by reading the words “live action adaptation” and “Hollywood” in the same sentence as your beloved ninja action series, but it is also worth noting that that the film will be produced by Avi Arad under his production outfit, Arad Productions. Whether that’s a plus or a minus will depend on your opinion of Arad and his contributions to the entertainment industry.
