The writing was on the wall and people actually expected the fight against Kaguya to be the end of Masashi Kishimoto’s long-running ninja-themed manga, but the manga pulled an ace out of its sleeve with another fight (that’s been a long time coming. We’re not going to spoil it for people who have yet to catch up.) so it is still a bit jarring to find out that the Naruto manga will be ending its serialization on Weekly Shonen Jump’s 50th issue, which is scheduled for November 10.
Technically, assuming that there’s no epilogue chapter – the manga would end on chapter 699. Some fans have theorized that it ends on that chapter instead of a round number like 700 because 699 kind of looks like a sharingan when turned over. The bigger concern is that the fight that we’re not spoiling couldn’t possibly be a real fight if it only takes 5 chapters. Is it going to be a cop out, or are they going to fight off panel? Or maybe they won’t end up fighting at all. We have the rest of the month to find out.
