Frederator Studios Rumored to Be Working on Castlevania Adaptation
In a recent Nick Animation podcast, Frederator Studios (Adventure Time) owner Fred Seibert has revealed that they are currently working on a new project that “needs to go unnamed” but is “based on one of the most world-famous video games of the last 30 years.” While the description is vague enough to apply to dozens of popular videogame franchises, the additional info that the project has been on the back burner for twelve years can be cross-referenced with an old Facebook post from Dredd producer Adi Shankar to come up with a likely suspect: Castlevania.
Now, as is the nature of rumors and creative projects steeped in secrecy, it would be counterproductive to presume that Frederator Studios is indeed working on an adaptation of the Belmonts’ story (especially since Adi Shankar is very prolific and has worked on unofficial adaptations of other popular IPs such as Venom, The Punisher, and The Power Rangers). But the speculations should provide enough excitement to fans of Frederator Studios and/or the Castlevania franchise. And hey, we’re on the Internet – speculating about rumors is what we do best.
