Nick Channels Return to DirecTV
Regular Toonbarn contributor DarkRukia has recently posted about DirecTV dropping Nickelodeon (along with 14 other channels) from their service, and hoped that it doesn’t last long, since it prevents high quality shows such as The Legend of Korra, Spongebob Squarepants, and many others from being watched by as many as 20 million DirecTV subscribers.
As further evidence that DarkRukia has powers beyond the ken of mortal men, Viacom and DirecTV have recently reached an aggreement and signed a new long term carriage deal, which will allow DirecTV to continue carrying 26 of Viacom’s networks, which includes Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Nicktoons, and TeenNick.
The financial terms behind the agreement were not disclosed to the public, but the announcement also revealed that DirecTV subscribers will also be given the chance to watch Viacom programming on various platforms that include tablets, handhelds, computer, and even consoles via the DirecTV Everywhere platform. DirecTV also gets the option to add the EPIX service to their entertainment offerings.
