Rainbow brings PopPixie to Nickelodeon

Now that the Winx Club girls have made their way over the Nickelodeon, what do you think would be the best place for their Pixie friends? Nick, of course! With that in mind, Rainbow and Nickelodeon have struck a deal to give the cartoon giant international broadcasting rights for PopPixie across a number of regions, including the UK, Germany, Australia, and Africa (we’re workin’ on North American details, no worries!). The fantastical dimension of Pixieville features mischievous gnomes, magical animals, and, of course, the Pixies. But when trouble-making Elves stir up excitement, it’s up to the adventurous and magical PopPixies, Amore, Caramel, Chatta, Cherie, Fixit, Lockette, Martino, and others, to set things straight. RAINBOW AND NICKELODEON SIGN MULTI-TERRITORY DEAL FOR POPPIXIE

Pixies pop into Nickelodeon’s Upcoming Programming Plans

(Loreto, Italy, April 12, 2011) Rainbow today announced that Nickelodeon has secured international broadcast rights for PopPixie for Nickelodeon channels in the UK, Germany, Scandinavia, Benelux, South East Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, Eastern Europe, CIS, and Africa.

Iginio Straffi, CEO and founder of Rainbow said, “We are extremely pleased to enter such a broad deal with Nickelodeon for PopPixie as they really are the ideal broadcasting partner for this kind of property. We feel very confident that the success PopPixie has achieved so far, both in TV ratings and licensing will be even greater with this multi-territory deal.”

PopPixie (52 x 13) is Rainbow’s latest 4-10 year old animated comedy featuring the charming Pixies, first introduced as ancillary characters in Winx Club series 2 in 2007. They generated such a strong fan base (and huge licensing revenues) that they’ve ended up becoming the stars of their very own dedicated show. Launched across Europe in 2010 the Pixies once again achieved instant results, especially amongst its core audience of 4-6 year olds: the show attained peak ratings of 45% on France 3 (October 2010), 58% on Spain’s Clan TV (October 2010) and 58% on TVI Portugal (November 2010).

In addition to the Nickelodeon deal, PopPixie has also been sold to RAI (Italy), France 3, Clan TVE, Canal Panda (Portugal), Junior and MTV3 (Finland), CTC (Russia), M-Net (Africa), Kanal D (Turkey), MBC (Middle East and North Africa), and Noga (Israel). PopPixie will now be aired in over 50 territories, which will be a major boon to master toy licensee Bandai, as well as the 30 plus major European licensees already on board, from Giochi Preziosi, Clementoni and Ravensburger to Rusconi, Hachette, and Mirtillo.

PopPixie programming will premiere on Nick’s international channels in the UK, Germany, Scandinavia, Benelux, South East Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, Eastern Europe, CIS, and Africa later this year and throughout 2012.

PopPixie takes place in Pixieville, a fantastical dimension where mischievous gnomes and magical animals live happily together with the endlessly entertaining Pixies. The peace and tranquility are often upended by rabble-rousing Elves, always on the lookout for a little trouble-making and harmless fun. Magic, adventure and humor abound with these unforgettable characters, as they continuously get caught up in one self-induced calamity after another!
