New Open World One Piece Game Coming in 2018

Bandai Namco has recently confirmed a new game based on Eiichiro Oda’s mega popular pirate-themed manga/anime franchise, One Piece. The new game is titled One Piece: World Seeker, and is going to debut in 2018 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. According to the same announcement, the game is an open world action game (hence the “world “ in the title) and will feature an expansive, seamless world that can be explored by players as they control the Strawhat Pirates’ captain, Monkey D. Luffy.

There are no further details on the game, but Bandai Namco has released a bunch of early screenshots depicting the gameplay. While it is still too early to make judgments, the screenshots show cel-shaded characters on a realistically-rendered open world, which may seem jarring to many fans who prefer either straight realism or anime-like visuals. But to give Bandai Namco the benefit of the doubt, let’s wait until the trailer is revealed in next week’s Jump Festa just to see how it looks like in action.
