New Screenshots for J-Stars Victory VS.

J-Stars-Victory-Vs

We’re actually still pumped-up from the recent announcement that Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Full Burst will also get a PC release this fall (OMG I now pronounce me and Namco Bandai husband and waifu!) so a new batch of screenshots for another Namco Bandai-produced shonen fighting game, J-Stars Victory VS., is likely to get us so pumped up that we’d glow and evolve into a more powerful form.

For the uninitiated, J-Stars Victory VS. is a 3D fighting game meant to celebrate Shonen Jump’s 45th anniversary. The game features characters taken from some of the magazine’s most popular titles to date, including Dragon Ball, One Piece, Bleach, Naruto, Dragon Ball, Rurouni Kenshin, Toriko, Gintama, Kochikame, Yuu Yuu Hakusho, Hunter x Hunter, and probably more. Think of it as Super Smash Bros. with manga characters and a deeper fighting engine. Naturally, all manner of consistency about power levels is thrown out of the window in favor of providing a more enjoyable and balanced fight, so expect to see weird match-ups like Rurouni Kenshin’s Kenshin Himura squaring off against Son-goddamn-Goku.

You can check out the screenshots below:

J-Stars Victory VS. is scheduled for a 2013 release (duh! Otherwise they’d miss the 45th anniversary thing) for the PS3 and PS Vita. There’s no PC release planned, but given the licensing issues with these types of cross-franchise games, we’re willing to cut Namco Bandai some slack, and we’re also hoping that they start returning our phone calls.
