Walt Disney’s multiplatform brand aimed at kids and their guardians, Disney Junior, will be upgraded to a 24 hour channel today, March 23. The new Disney Jr. channel will be available via Comcast, Time Warner, Cablevision, Bright House and Verizon. It will serve as the main vehicle of classic Disney preschool shows, as well as new acquisitions that fit the brand. In line with this, the channel’s website at DisneyJunior.com will show off a new look, as well as stream complete digital episodes, games, and multimedia content.
Later this year, subscribers of Comcast will also be given access to WATCH Disney Junior, which is a live simulcast of Disney Junior over several devices, such as computers, smartphones, and tablets, so that they can watch Disney’s rich library of preschool targeted shows in and out of the home.
“Parents have asked us for more of the Disney brand essence they know and love and stories that can also serve as learning tools,” says Nancy Kanter, senior VP and general manager of Disney Junior Worldwide. “They also want the choice of a dedicated destination for young viewers and now, through smart, funny, well-told stories with wonderful characters – all the hallmarks of a great Disney experience – we’re ready to deliver a 24-hour destination unlike any other on television.”
