5 Surprising Things You Might Not Know About Disney’s The Pirate Fairy

This is not an April Fool’s Day joke – April 1st is the real release date of Walt Disney’s The Pirate Fairy, which is a brand new tale based on the world of Peter Pan, this time focusing on a smart, ambitious dust keeper fairy named Zarina, who became so obsessed with Blue Pixie Dust and its endless possibilities.

After getting into trouble for her wild ideas, Zarina flees Pixie Hollow and joins forces with the scheming pirates of Skull Rock, making her the captain of their Ship. It is now up to Tinker Bell and her friends to find Zarina and bring her back. Along the way, they will cross paths (and swords!) with a band of pirated led by a cabin boy named James Hook.

In order to get you pumped, here are 5 surprising things you did not know about The Pirate Fairy:

1. James Hook will grow up to be the legendary nemesis of Peter Pan, Captain Hook. And he’s going to be voiced by Tom Hiddleston. Let’s see if Ol’ Tom can bring the same charm and fiendish likeability that he gave Loki in the Thor and Avengers films. You can check Tom in all his singing glory below:

2. The pint-sized Fairy who is also a Pirate Captain, Zarina, is voiced by none other than Christina Hendricks. Hendricks is known to drive men mad in her various roles, but this time we get to see (or hear, rather) a more mischievous and equally adventurous side of her.

3. Zarina’s kick-butt pirate outfit was designed by Project Runway winner Christian Siriano (check out the killer boots!)

4. Grammy-nominated artist Natasha Bedingfield wrote an original song especially for The Pirate Fairy. You can check out the song below:

5. The Pirate Fairy is Available Now on Blu-Ray!

This is probably the most important fact in this list. You can gawk all you want at the still images and the clips, but that’s only going to last you a few minutes. To really enjoy the Pirate Fairy experience, you have to score yourself a copy and add it to your home video collection. It is available now on most major retailers and on Amazon.
