WorstPreviews has just reported that the sequel to Avatar, (the one that actually made money and pleased critics, not the one that did a bad job of adapting a hit Nickelodeon toon) is scheduled to start filming in 2013.
Director James Cameron also revealed that he’s already putting in the finishing touches to the scripts for the next two films in the franchise, stating that he hopes to have both completed by February 2013.
“I want to get these scripts nailed down,” says Cameron. “I don’t want to be writing the movie in post production. We kind of did that on the first picture, I ended up cutting out a lot of scenes and I don’t want to do that again.”
Cameron also stated that he’s thinking of using 48 fps technology on the sequels, depending on the reaction of audiences once they’ve seen The Hobbit use it in the theatres.
“If there is acceptance of 48, then that will pave the way for Avatar [sequels] to take advantage of it,” he said.
