Ben Whishaw Takes Over Voice of Paddington Bear

According to a recent report by TheWrap.com, The Weinstein Company’s CG film adaptation of the Paddington Bear franchise (aptly titled “Paddington”) has found a new voice for the titular bear: Skyfall star Ben Whishaw, who will be taking over the role vacated by Colin Firth.

Firth originally dropped out of the project last month, citing his inability to find the right voice for the character as the main reason. There are no reports of any conflicts with the studio and Firth himself was civil when announcing his departure from the film, so we can chalk it up as just the actor and maybe the studio simply not being confident in the casting.

Paddington is produced by Grvity and Harry Potter producer David Heyman, and will feature stars Nicole Kidman, Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Jim Broadbent, Peter Capaldi and Julie Walters.
