Bleach Gets a GPS-Based Mobile Game in Japan

The success of Pokemon GO indicates that there is demand for games that take advantage of popular franchises and mobile phone capabilities, so the existence of Bleach: Paradise Lost is not so much a surprise but more of a mystery as to why it took so long—we feel that whoever owns the game-related licenses for Bleach isn’t as savvy as the ones who own the license for Dragon Ball or Naruto, as Bleach is criminally underutilised despite having (or used to, anyway) an equally expansive fanbase.

Going back to the topic, Bleach: Paradise Lost isn’t technically an ARG like Pokemon Go, but it does take advantage of a phone’s GPS capabilities similarly, in which players roam around in the real world looking for Hollows and upon finding one, can trigger a turn-based 3D battle. The latest issue of Jump provides a peek:

Bleach: Paradise Lost is under LINE and will launch later this year as a free to play game.
