According to Tite Kubo’s Beach manga’s 73rd volume, the 74th volume will be its last, which will be shipped this fall. 2016’s 31st issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine has also announced on Monday that the long-running manga is coming to an end.
Bleach entered its last story arc in February 2012. Kubo introduced the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2001, and Shueisha published the 72nd volume of Bleach on May 2. As new chapters are published in Japan, Viz Media is digitally publishing Bleach in North America. The publishing company is also publishing the manga in print, with its 66th volume published on March 1.
A TV anime adaptation was inspired by the manga, which ran for 366 episodes from 2004-2012. Viz Media acquired the home video and TV rights to the anime in 2006 and the English dubbed series premiered in Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim in the same year and eventually broadcasted all the episodes by 2014. Last month, Viz Media announced that it will release the TV anime series on Blu-ray Disc on July 19.
Additionally, Bleach manga has also inspired several video games, a series of novels, 4 anime films and a series of stage musicals.
