Blue’s Clues Returns with New Title and Host

The bouncy little blue puppy, Blue, will be returning via Nick Jr. and she’s not coming alone – the new series will come with a new title – Blue’s Clues & You – and a new human pal via Broadway actor Joshua Dela Cruz. Joshua will be on hand to help Blue and her viewers solve a whole host of exciting new puzzles. Production on the new series will start this month in Toronto.

“From the moment we decided to make a new version of the series, we knew that so much of the energy and magic of the show comes from the host’s ability to bring preschoolers into the colorfully animated world of Blue and her friends,” said Cathy Galeota, SVP, Preschool Content, Nickelodeon Group. “Josh’s wonderful theater background and his natural charisma checked all the boxes for us, and of course Steve’s stamp of approval only solidified our decision.”

Blue’s Clues & You will consist of 20 episodes and will continue the original series’ formula of the viewers joining Blue and the live action host as they go on a clue-solving adventure. Each signature paw print leading Blue to identify cluies in her animated world, propeling the story and encouraging viewers to interact with the action.

It is said that original host Steve Burns helped guide the audition process for the new host, stating that he “had the great honor of being a part of the search for the new host” and that he gives Josh “two thumbs up!”

“He can definitely fill my shoes, and the rugby shirt.”
