Bob Bacon Leaves Paramount Animation
According to a recent report by Deadline.com, Paramount Animation’s executive VP of production Bob Bacon is leaving the studio due to a restructuring move that eliminates the position completely. The report states that future oversight of animation production will be delegated to the current president of physical production, Lee Rosenthal.
The move is surprising considering that the studio is riding high on the momentum built by Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, which is their highest grossing film of the year after netting $163 million at the domestic box office and a total cume of $311.6 worldwide.
Bacon has been part of Paramount Animation for four years and has worked in the past as Walt Disney Feature Animation’s executive vice president. The most recent project started under Bacon’s tenure is Monster Trucks, which is scheduled to debut on March 18, 2016.
