Bonobono Returns in April

In celebration of its 30th anniversary since its serialization, Bonobono is getting a new TV anime adaptation. The anime series will air every Saturday at 4:52 a.m. on Fuji TV as well as on FOD (Fuji TV on Demand).

Bonobono is currently serialized in Manga Life and Takeshobo’s Manga Club. Based on Mikio Igarashi’s manga, it gained popularity due to its ridiculous gags that involve cute characters such as the sea otter pup Bonobono as well as Raccoon-kun, Chipmunk-kun and others.

The best-selling series has already published 40 volumes and has more than 9 million copies in print. In 1993, a film adaptation was released and between 1995 and 1996, a TV anime was broadcasted. The fully CG movie Bonobono: Kumomo no Ki no Koto was released in 2002.
