CAKE Gets New Deals for Pablo
Children’s entertainment outfit CAKE has recently signed a raft of new deals in important territories for their animated preschool series Pablo. This 52 x 11 series is notable for being one of the first children’s show to have a central character with autism. The new deals include Universal Kids for the US, SVT for Sweden, YLE for Finland, ABC for Australia, Hunan for China, C&J for Korea, RTHK for Hong Kong, Show for Arica, and Netflix for multiple territories. These new broadcast partners will be joining Cbeebies and RTEJr, which already debuted Pablo last October.
The series was created, co-written, and voiced by young autistic talent, under the production of Paper Owl Films for Cbeebies and RTEJr, in association with Kavaleer Productions and Ingenious with funding from Northern Ireland Screen and BAI.
Pablo is described as an affecting kids’ series revolving around the titular smart and artistic little boy, whose imaginative drawings made with magic crayons come to life and enable him to face the Real World confidently. Pablo is said to be 5 and a half years old and on the autism spectrum, and is helped by his art world friends Llama, Noa, Mouse, Draff, Tang, and Wren. Pablo has proven to be successful enough that a second season has already been commissioned, along with six games and a slate of short films that will be released on a staggered basis.
