CBeebies’ Tree Fu Tom is a Big Hit
CBeebies’ animated preschool series Tree Fu Tom proves to be a big hit in the United Kingdom, with the show becoming the network’s top rater since its debut last month. Boasting of a 330,000 viewership from kids aged 6 below just for its 11 episodes, coupled with a 25 percent audience share. The show has more impressive numbers when it comes to kids aged 4 and older, with a 542,000 viewership and an audience share of 30 percent.
Tree Fu Tom uses CG animation and combines heroic, action, and fantasy elements as it follows the adventures of Tom, who uses a magic belt to gain martial arts powers, and his friend Twigs. The show also relies on viewer interaction through unique physical activity, with the physical actions devised and approved by movement development specialists, in order to assist in the development of children. Tree Fu Tom also features the voices of former Doctor Who stars Sophie Aldred and David Tennant, as Tom and Twigs, respectively.
