The live action adaptations of anime franchises that can be found on Netflix have been hit or miss so far. For every gem like Full Metal Alchemist, you also get duds like Death Note. There are also stuff that are divisive, such as Bleach. So it is not a surprise when Netflix chose to produce yet another anime franchise, but chose to forego live action as the medium.
Case in point, Netflix is reportedly developing a new Ghost in the Shell anime series titled Ghost in the Shell: SAC_20145. This time around, it will be 3D animated and is slated to debut on the streaming service in 2020. Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 will be directed by Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama, with Production I.G. and Sola Digital Arts serving as co-producers.
