CG-Animated Resident Evil Film, Vendetta, Coming to Theaters Worldwide
Fans of the Resident Evil videogames (particularly the pre-RE7 versions with the more over-the-top elements) should set aside some time in the coming months, as the dark CG thriller Resident Evil: Vendetta will be making its way to theaters on May 27, with a special one-night event screening happening across the US and Canada on Monday, June 19 courtesy of Fathom Events, Park Circus, and Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions.
Resident Evil: Vendeta is the third installment in the line of CG-animated films based on the franchise, and follows Resident Evil: Degeneration (2008) and Resident Evil: Damnation (2012). The movie will follow iconic protagonists Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield, and Rebecca Chambers as they race against time in order to protect New York City from a bio-chemical terror attack.
The film is produced by Marza Animation Planet (Space Pirate Captain Harlock), executive produced by Takashi Shimizu (The Grudge), written by Makoto Fukami (Psycho-Pass) and directed by Takanori Tsujimoto (Bushido Man).
Tickets for Canadian screenings go on sale Friday, March 24 through cineplex.com.
