China Gets First CG 3D Toon with Boonie Bears

According to Chinese news outlet CRI, mainland China’s theaters will be getting the country’s first-ever Chinese 3D animated film during the annual Spring Festival or Lunar New Year (January 31) via the film Boonie Bears (Xiong Chumo), which is a joint production of Fantawild Animation Inc., Mr. Cartoon Pictures, LEVP, and Zhujiang Film.

Based on the extremely popular children’s TV show being broadcast by CCTV (Central China Television), Boonie Bears focuses on logger Vick and a couple of bears named Briar and Bramble, both of whom start out as enemies but eventually discover that they need to work together in order to recover a lost treasure.
