Big Fish & Begonia is one of the most anticipated Chinese animated films in the recent years and finally, it will come in local theaters on July 8. Produced, directed and written by Zhang Chun and Liang Xuan, the film is produced by Beijing’s B&T Studio in association with South Korean animation house Studo Mir.
The film is based on classic Chinese tales and follows a teenager girl on a trip through a bizarrely altered world where the sea and the Earth merge more fluidly than in our reality. Taking the form of a dolphin, she sets off to look for the human who saved her in order to repay the good deed.
Big Fish & Begonia is being shown in by Beijing Enlight Media in China. Chun and Xuan started their journey with the short film Swallowtail Butterfly in 2004 and created B&T Studio in 2005 in order to turn the short film into a feature.
