Chinese Theaters Get a Chill From The Snow Queen

Wizart Animation’s CG animated take on Hans Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen was recently released in Beijing and will also be screened in Shanghai in August 2, followed by a nationwide rollout to over 3,400 screens in August 3. The screening of the Russian-produced feature comes courtesy of local distribution partner Flame Node Entertainment, which handles the film’s theatrical release.

The deal did not come easy, as the Chinese debut had to struggle through two years of negotiations between Flame Node and Wizart, but it is not without its merits – the two parties have also started talks to co-produce the third installment in the Snow Queen franchise. The deal will be formally signed at a ceremony in Beijing next week.
