Universal Pictures has just unveiled the first official trailer for the third entry in Illumination Entertainment’s mega-popular Despicable Me franchise, aptly titled “Despicable Me 3.” The film is slated for a June 30, 2017 release and will feature a new bad guy voiced by South Park’s Trey Parker – the shoulder pad-wearing, moon-walking villain Balthazar Bratt!
The trailer is fairly meaty, showing a huge chunk of action and long scenes featuring Gru and Balthazar. Unfortunately, fan favorite minions don’t make an appearance until the end of the trailer. Watch the trailer to understand what we’re talking about:
Despicable Me 3’s plot concerns Gru and Lucy facing off with the former child star turned super villain Balthazar Bratt, on behalf of the Anti-Villain League. Gru is also struggling with troubles a little bit closer to home as his long-lost twin brother Dru reappears and reignites some serious sibling rivalry.
Despicable Me 3 is directed by Kyle Balda and Pierre Coffin and produced by Illumination’s Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy, from a screenplay by Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul.
