DHX and Dentsu Team Up for New Mega Man Series
DHX Media and Dentsu Entertainment USA have recently inked a global deal for the development, production, distribution, and management of licensing for a brand new animated series based on the popular Capcom video game character, Mega Man.
Under the deal, global rights will be managed by Dentsu Entertainment USA and DHX jointly, handling distribution and licensing in the US. The former will be handling distribution and licensing in Asia exclusively. Other territories will be the responsibility of the latter.
The new Mega Man TV series will be targeted towards kids aged 6 to 9 and will focus on new technologies and robots, while also delving into the story of Mega Man’s alter ego, Aki Light, who is a normal and over-excitable schoolboy robot. Aki Light will have the ability to transform his skin into a suit of impenetrable nanocore armor, and will have access to the famed Mega Buster arm cannon and an equally impenetrable helmet. The new series is scheduled for a 2017 debut, which will coincide with the franchise’s 30th anniversary.
Ben 10 and Generator Rex’s Man of Action Entertainment will be on board as executive producers, so we can expect quality from this upcoming series.
