According to a recent report by Deadline.com, Disney has just ordered a new animated series tentatively titled Star and the Forces of Evil, which was created by Daron Nefcy and with Eden Sher of the sitcom The Middle on board to voice the lead.
Star and the Forces of Evil is a comedy-adventure series that follows the other-dimensional magical teen princess Star Butterfly, who is sent by her parents to live on Earth with the Diaz family, whose son she takes under her wings in order to stop evil villains and protect her magic wand.
Nefcy graduated from CalArts in 2009 and recently worked on the upcoming Disney Channel series Wander Over Yonder and Warner Bros.’ MAD. She will serve as co-exec producer, Deadline reports. Emmy-winner Dave Wasson (The Buzz On Maggie) is co-executive producer and director, and writer Jordana Arkin is co-executive producer and story editor.
Production for Star and the Forces of Evil is under way for a premiere in fall 2014.
