Disney Jr. to Start a Nightly Programming Block
Odd as it may seem, the preschool-centric Disney Junior is now planning to launch a nightly programming block o their 24 hour channel, starting on Tuesday, September 4 at 9 PM all the way through 4 AM. The programming block will be called “Disney Junior Night Light,” and will consist of parent-targeted yet still kid-friendly short form programming.
Disney Junior Night Light is produced by Disney Interactive Family and sponsored by Disney’s parenting blog platform, Babble. The programs in the block will also be featured on the blog platform’s youtube channel and their Disneyjunior.com subsite.
Junior’s Senior VP of original programming and general manager Nancy Kanter said, “We know that Disney Junior reaches moms as well as our core audience. Our new ‘Disney Junior Night Light’ programming is a nod to those moms, and dads too, who find themselves watching with their child during the later nighttime hours.”
