Disney Junior Reimagines Muppet Babies for 2018
Disney Junior has recently announced that production is underway on their reimagined Muppet Babies series, which is slated for an early 2018 release. This reboot of the beloved Jim Henson property will feature CG animated renditions of Kermit the Frog, Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, Animal, and all of the other babyfied versions of the Muppets. The legs of Miss Nanny will also be making a comeback to the small screens.
The new CG Muppet Babies series is a collaborative effort from Disney Junior, Disney Consumer Products, Interactive Media’s Content & Media Group, and The Muppets Studio. The series is targeted towards children aged 4 to 7 and will consist of 22 minute episodes (each episode divided into two 11 minute stories). The stories will have the Baby Muppets going on various adventures with the help of their imaginations, creativity, and critical thinking skills.
“We are proud, and a little bit giddy, to begin production on our new version of the much-loved Muppet Babies,” said Nancy Kanter, EVP Original Programming and GM of Disney Junior Worldwide. “Parents will delight in seeing their favorite Muppets in the mixed animation style they remember from the original series, and kids will be introduced to this warm and zany world made just right for the Disney Junior audience.”
