Disney to Launch Two New Disney Infinity Apps

Disney-Infinity-001-600x300

Disney is going all out in their support for the upcoming Disney Infinity game and toy franchise, with the company prepping the launch of two mobile apps for the property bearing many of their most iconic characters.

The first app is dubbed Disney Infinity: Toy Box, which is exclusive to the iPad and will allow players to build new worlds and interact with characters, as well as export their creations to the main console game. It can work both ways as worlds that were built on the console can be transferred to the iPad version.

Disney is initially offering up more than 60 terrains, tracks and decorations that can be manipulated on the iPad screen to build new worlds. As new items are unlocked on the console version of the game, they will also become available on the iPad apps. Items that gamers buy separately will also be available, while items can also be purchased in the apps for $0.99. The base app is free to download, and comes with Mr. Incredible.

The next app is named Disney Infinity: Action, which lets players bring the game to life by creating movies starring the animated characters and themselves as well, using a movie maker. The app is already available as of Aug. 15 from iTunes and the Windows Store and eventually the Google Play Store, more than 30 different animations and dozens of props, including Buzz Lightyear’s jet pack, will be available. Mr. Incredible, Sulley and Jack Sparrow will also be available as characters to cast in the videos.

The app will have social media functions, which lets users share their creations on Youtube, Facebook, or through email.

The main Disney Infinity game will hit retail shelves on Aug. 18 for the Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii U.
