Disney Planning Sequel to Alice in Wonderland
Alice in Wonderland managed to earn over $1 billion at the global box office back in 2010, so it’s not surprising that Disney is more than willing to give the go-ahead to the film’s sequel, even though the film was not well-received by the critics due to its fairly pedestrian storytelling and the subpar 3D (at a time when 3D was the being marketed as the next big thing).
Whether Tim Burton will be returning or not remains to be seen. The script is currently being worked on by Linda Woolverton, whose past credits include The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast, so we can at least rest assured that it’s in capable hands.
The first film was based – loosely – on Lewis Carroll’s same-titled story, so the sequel may be based on Alice Through the Looking Glass, which is Lewis Carroll’s follow up to the original story.
