Disney Resumes Negotiations Over Fox Assets
According to recent reports from Deadline.com and the Wall Street Journal, The Walt Disney Co. have resumed talks to acquire some of the assets of Fox, amid reports of other big players entering the arena in a bid to acquire Fox’s properties. Some of the interested parties include NBCUniversal owner Comcast, and Sony.
The deal with Disney is said to cover Fox’s movie and TV studios, as well as its international holdings in ventures including a stake in the UK satellite company Sky. Fox News, Fox Broadcasting Co., and Fox Sports Networks are not part of the deal but even with their exclusion, the acquisition is big news because if it comes to fruition, the Walt Disney Co. will be one step closer to finally acquiring all of Marvel’s film properties under one roof.
It is reported that Murdoch and family, which hold 39% of the 21st Century Fox voting shares, will decide by the end of the year whether there will be any sale moving forward, and to whom.
