DreamWorks to Adapt Mr. Peabody and Sherman
DreamWorks Animation has announced plans to adapt Jay Ward’s beloved series Mr. Peabody & Sherman into the big screens. Scheduled for a March 14, 2014 premiere, the movie will be shown in 3D and will be under the direction of Rob Minkoff (The Lion King).
Mr. Peabody & Sherman’s scripting duties were given to Six Feet Under’s Craig Wright, and follows the story of the world’s smartest person, Mr. Peabody, who happens to be a dog. Mr. Peabody has a “pet” named Sherman, who is a boy. Through an accident involving Mr. Peabody’s time travel machine, events in history have spiraled out of control. It is then up to the unlikely duo of Mr. Peabody and Sherman to repair things before the space time continuum is destroyed completely.
“The brilliantly comedic and paternal sensibilities of Ty Burrell make him ideal for the role of the beloved Mr. Peabody, and we are thrilled that he will join Max Charles as the leads of Mr. Peabody and Sherman,” said Bill Damaschke, DreamWorks Animation’s CCO.
