DreamWorks’ Captain UnderPants Gets a Director
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Dreamworks Animation’s upcoming adaptation of Dav Pilkey’s popular children’s book Captain Underpants has finally found a director: Monster vs. Aliens’ Rob Letterman. The project also has a script penned by Nicholas Stoller (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted, Neighbors), with Dreamworks’ development executive Damon Ross taking charge.
The Captain Underpants book was first published in 1997, and focuses on the adventures of troublemaking 4th grade students George Beard and Harold Hutchins, whose madcap schemes resulted in them accidentally hypnotizing their school’s principal into thinking that he is an actual superhero based on an underground comic-book. The book has been part of many best seller lists and has already published more than 50 million copies in the US alone.
