DreamWorks Signs New Multi-Year Deal with Netflix
DreamWorks and Netflix have recently made it official via a joint announcement: both companies have signed a multi-year deal that will make the latter the premiere home of new animated content from the former.
The agreement will mark the largest deal for original first-run content in Netflix history, and will also serve as the first time DreamWorks Animation’s characters will be introduced into the TV market as a branded collection of shows. The agreement will include over 300 hours of new programming, including brand new shows inspired by characters from DWA’s hit movies.
“This is an unprecedented commitment to original content in the internet television space,” said DreamWorks Animation Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Katzenberg. “Netflix is a visionary company that continues to redefine the way audiences watch television and it is a thrill to add to their growing momentum.”
