The second season of Latin culture and folklore-inspired CG series Elena of Avalor has been greenlit, following its successful launch on Disney Junior and Disney Channel last month. The announcement of the second season corresponds with the debut of Princess Elena’s character at Walt Disney World in Orlando. Nancy Kanter, the General Manager and EVP for Disney Junior Worldwide announced the news.
The simulcast premiere of Elena the Avalor on July 22 ranks as the number 1 series telecast of 2016 among all kid-targeted television networks in total viewers of 4.5 million (kids 2-11, 2.4 million, adults 18-49, 1.2 million).
Elena of Avalor has achieved more than 24 million total viewers and delivered more than 8.6 million viewer engagements on Disney Junior apps and Disney Channel.
Aside from the debut of the Princess at Disney’s U.S. parks, extensions for the series also include print and e-book titles from Disney Publishing such as role-play products, dolls, home decor, apparel and accessories from Disney Store and licensees including Jakks Pacific, Hasbro, Children’s Apparel Network, and Franco Manufacturing; an EP soundtrack from Walt Disney Records and a DVD to be released later this year.
Elena of Avator is executive produced and created by Craig Gerber. It is a classic fable combining influences from Hispanic and Latin cultures. The main character Elena is an adventurous and brave teen who saves her kingdom from an evil sorceress and now, she has to learn how to rule as a crown princess.
