English Cardfight!! Vanguard Dub Premieres Friday
Following its Japanese language launch earlier this month, Bushiroad is preparing the English dubbed debut of the new Cardfight!! Vanguard anime series. The dubbed version will become available for free to watch on the brand’s official YouTube channel starting May 25th.
To promote the launch, the company has begun streaming a short trailer:
The main protagonist, Aichi Sendou, is a timid and mundane third-year middle schooler. The thing that supported Aichi’s heart, was the “Blaster Blade” card that he received as a child. From the day he reunited with the person who gave him that card, Toshiki Kai, Aichi’s life began to change.
It’s a youthful story of Vanguard card fighters who clash passionately with each other through fights.
Based on the voices in the trailer, it’s safe to say James Beach and Ryan Luhning have reprised their roles of Aichi and Kai.
Part of Bushiroad’s big Cardfight!! Vanguard cross-media franchise, the anime has been rebooted to better follow Akira Ito’s manga series of the same name. The show’s animation is produced by OLM. Originally launched in 2011, the property has become Bushiroad’s cornerstone, inspiring countless trading cards, video games, events and other merchandise. Prior to the original series reboot, the Vanguard G spinoff was aired.
Shortly after the franchise’s Japanese debut, the company partnered up with Ocean Productions to create an English language dub through their Alberta, Canada-based Blue Water Studios. Unorthodox for a youth merchandise property of the time, Bushiroad skipped a traditional television broadcast and began releasing the show exclusively through streaming platforms.
