Exclusive Oggy Deal Lands on Lagardere Active and Xilam
Lagardere Active, France’s leading kids’ broadcasting group (including channels TiJi, Canal J and Gulli) and Xilam announce in advance of MIPTV an exclusive agreement in France for broadcasting Oggy and the Cockroaches. The international hit animated comedy previously aired on Gulli from 2005 to 2010 and was vital to the successful launch of the channel.
On the new agreement, Lagardere Active will take on exclusive broadcasting rights starting 2017 in the country for Canal J and Gulli, including free and pay TV, kids and family channels and the Replay TV platforms, and comprising all seasons of Oggy and the Cockroaches. The deal also includes the upcoming 5th season, which will be available in Ultra HD and will produce more than 500 episodes when it arrives in 2017.
In season 5, Oggy will be discovering great periods of civilization, from prehistory, Greek Mythology and the Renaissance to the 1920s and beyond where he’ll meet celebrated figures on his mission to annihilate those blasted roaches.
Oggy and the Cockroaches debuted on FOX TV in the U.S. in 1998 and enjoyed increasing success over the next 20 years. The animated series has now been distributed in more than 180 countries and has a massive online following, earning more than 2 billion YouTube views every year in addition to boasting 3 million Facebook fans and followers on Pinterest, Instagram, and more.
