One of the more quirky, food-themed CG animated movies to come out in the past decade, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (and its 2013 sequel), will be returning to give its fans another mouth-watering comedy experience. The difference this time around is that it’s not on the big screen, and it’s using 2D animation.
DHX Media and Sony Pictures Animation, in association with Corus Entertainment, will be launching a Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs TV series on Monday, March 6 at 5:30 pm ET/PT on Cartoon Network. By way of a teaser, a new clip has just been released online, featuring the franchise’s protagonist Flint Lockwood introducing his Garbage Bye-Bye!, which as the name implies, is a garbage disposal device. Although as to how effective it is, you’ll just have to watch the clip:
The Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs TV series is set before giant food rains down on swallow Falls, when the town’s economy is still reliant on sardines. The series follows a teenage Flint Lockwood as he tries to change the world through his inventions. His best friend, the aspiring meteorologist Sam Sparks, accompanies Flint. Several characters from the films will also make an appearance, such as Flint’s dad Tim, Flint’s lab assistant, Steve the Monkey, the busy teacher Earl, and Mayor Shelbourne, who wins every election due to a pro-sardine platform.
