Fox Commissions New Animated Comedy, Botcop

An animated comedy from writers Itai Grunfeld, Geoff Barbanell, and executive producer Tracey Katsky has just been commissioned by Fox after a presentation. Titled Botcop, the project was borne out of Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, and was originally pitched to Fox as a live-action comedy series. According to a Deadline report, Fox liked the pitch but requested that it be rewritten as an animated series.

Botcop is said to focus on a cutting edge police robot from 1985, who is trying to make ends meet in the 21st century as a security guard for a gated community. Animation for the series will be handled by Bento Box Entertainment, of Bob’s Burgers fame.
