Fox Schedules Ice Age 5 for 2016

According to a recent report by Animation Magazine, the hilarious bunch of zany prehistoric animals from the Ice Age franchise will be returning for their fifth big screen adventure in July of 2016. While neither Fox nor Blue Sky have released plot details for the film, it has been confirmed that the main voice cast will be asked to return in order to reprise their original roles.

The decision to bring back the franchise for another go-around is not surprising, as the first four movies managed to gross over $2.8 billion worldwide and is considered as one of the most successful animated movies in Fox’s library. However, one thing that Fox is steeling itself for is the Summer 2016 release date, which will pit them against other animated heavyweights: Pixar and Disney’s sequel to Finding Nemo, Finding Dory, which will hit theaters on June 17, which is also the release date for Dreamworks’ How to Train Your Dragon 3.
