Disney is breaking tradition this year – instead of going through with a Thanksgiving Eve release, the upcoming Frozen sequel has been moved up to a November 22, Friday premiere. In the previous years, Disney-Pixar followed a Thanksgiving Eve release for the films Coco, Moana, and The Good Dinosaur. However, that does not mean there won’t be a holiday CG film for people, because the Nov 21 slot is filled by Ralph Breaks the Internet.
The first Frozen film launched in November 22, 2013. It is still the top five-day Thanksgiving opening at the box office, netting $93.5 million, before going on to gross more than $1.276 billion worldwide. The sequel will be directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck again, and voice cast members Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Josh Gad, and Jonathan Groff will be returning to reprise their roles.
