FUNimation Releases PS4 App

If you’re one of the lucky few (one of the 20.2 million out there) people who own a Playstation 4, FUNimation is giving you another means of free streaming access to your favorite anime (including spring simulcast shows) via a new PS4 app. The catch is that you need to reside in the US or Canada, because the service is region-locked to those areas.

The Playstation 4 FUNimation app will feature video queuing, history syncing with FUNimation.com, search capability, episode progress bar indicators, intelligent bookmarking and many other streaming and playback functions that users have come to expect from streaming services.

While the app is basically free, people who want to shell out a little bit for more content (or people who want to reward FUNimation for their service) can opt for an All-Access Pass, which gives them unrestricted and exclusive access to FUNimation’s entire library, which includes exclusive English dubs of shows that are currently airing in Japan, and a huge library of subtitled content in HD and free of commercials.

PS3 owners don’t have to fret, though, as their app has been upgraded with the same features as the PS4 version, including remote control support. Aside from the PS3 and PS4, FUNimation is also available on other systems such as Xbox 360, iOS, and Android.
