Gintama Anime Movie Scheduled for Summer 2013
The recent Jump Fest has revealed that the second Gintama anime movie is expected to debut on summer of 2013. The original story will be written by manga author Hideaki Sorachi, and the voice cast will consist of Daisuke Sakaguchi (Shinpachi), Tomokazu Sugita (Gintoki), and Yu Kobayashi (Ayame Sarutobi), who all took to the stage in order to promote the feature. However, the cast members admitted that Sorachi’s problems with norovirus may affect the schedule.
Gintama is an alternate history manga set in a version of Edo that has been conquered by aliens called Amanto. The story is told from the point of view of a samurai named Gintoki Sakata, who works as a freelancer alongside his friends Shinpachi Shimura and Kagura, doing jobs in order to pay the monthly rent. The series was originally meant to be a historical series on recommendations from Sorachi’s editor, but the mangaka added sci fi elements in order to develop the story and characters according to his liking.
