GKIDS brings Mia and the Migoo to the English-speaking world
GKIDS is on a quest to bring Jacques-Remy Girerd’s Mia and the Migoo to English-speaking audiences around the world. The animated film stars young Mia, who lives on an island being taken over by a lavish hotel and resort company. Pedro, Mia’s father, is one of the builders, who has more and more been interrupted at work by mysterious problems. When Pedro is trapped by a landslide, it’s up to Mia to save him – though she’s far from alone! On her way to help her father, Mia meets the Migoo; curious, shape-changing creatures tasked with protecting a sacred tree at any cost — including, disrupting incoming developers. Angered by the delays, the head developer calls for his son Alden to help with construction. But Alden resents his father’s destructive wishes, and joins Mia and the Migoo in their quest to protect the tree and rescue Pedro. The translated version will debut Earth Day, April 22, in partnership with Earth Day Network, starring John DiMaggio, Whoopi Goldberg, Matthew Modine, Wallace Shawn, James Woods, and newcomers Amanda Misquez as Mia and Vincent Agnello as Aldrin.
