Independent animation distributor GKIDS has recently unveiled the first teaser trailer for director Nora Twomey’s new feature “The Breadwinner,” which is produced by Aircraft Pictures’ Anthony Leo and Andrew Rosen, Cartoon Saloon’s Tomm Moore and Paul Young, and Melusine Productions’ Stephan Roelants. You can check out the trailer below:
The BreadWinner revolves around the young girl Parvana, who lives under the Taliban regime. In order to provide for her family, the young girl cuts her hair and disguises herself as a boy after her father is imprisoned. The feature is a powerful and riveting story that espouses self-empowerment and imagination in the face of oppression.
The feature uses an engaging and breath-taking hand-drawn style for its animation, which has become almost synonymous with Cartoon Saloon due to their effective use of the style in their other productions.
