Godzilla Anime Coming to Netflix Worldwide

The first ever anime series based on the Godzilla franchise will be rampaging all over the globe this year, courtesy of streaming service Netflix. According to a recent report by the Anime News Network, Netflix’s Japanese arm is working with iconic Japanese film distributor Toho in order to launch a coordinated theatrical/digital release for 2017.

The Godzilla anime is directed by Kobun Shizuno (Detective Conan, Fist of the Northstar franchise veteran) and Hiroyuki Seshits (Ajin, Knights of Sidonia), working on a story and screenplay by Gen Urobuchi (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Psycho-Pass).

The Japanese voice cast has also been announced, and it features notable names such as Yuuki Kaji, Takahiro Sakurai, Mamoru Miyano, Junichi Suwabe, Kana Hanazawa and Tomokazu Sugita, who will be making an appearance for the film’s stage event at AnimeJapan later this month.
