Tite Kubo may have announced that his long-running manga/anime franchise, Bleach, is already on its last story arc, but that doesn’t mean the merchandise and licensing gears need to stop turning as well. I mean, how long has it been since Dragonball Z ended? Yet there’s still an upcoming game and merchandise still sells like hotcakes.
A recent proof that it’s still quite some time before we see the last of Ichigo Kurosaki and the soul reapers, Japanese social game developer Gree has just started beta registrations to a select few for their upcoming social media game, Bleach X Gree.
The game puts players in the role of a rookie Soul Reaper who has just arrived in Kurakura Town. Much of the gameplay involves solving problems in order to receive cards and items, but it also allows players to combine forces with famous Bleach characters in order to beat obstacles and win more rewards.
Currently, the game is open only to Japanese players, but the actual game itself will be launched by the end of August, 2012, barring unforeseen delays.
